MY LATEST CREATION

It was really bad weather yesterday so I did some crafting.
Here's what I made...

A 1940's style cherry necklace.
I've had a 1940s celluloid chain necklace with cherries on my wish
list for many years but I don't want to spend like $100-$450 so I
made one myself!
I actually love the way it turned out.
Remember that I made one with a green chain?

TODAY'S FINDS

Been enjoying the sunshine and the heat we had for two
days (it's been miserable weather here the entire June)
but today it was back to rain and wind.
On crappy days like these I run errands, watch movies
and crafting and that's pretty much sums up what I've
actually done today.
Had a whole bunch of packages to send and while I was
in town I had a scout in my favorite charity shop.
This is what I've got...

And as usual, click on the images for larger view.

1950's necklace, £1.50.
Need an extension chain but that's an easy fix.
Gift from my man.

Vintage velvet capri pants, £2.
Vintage sarong skirt, £1.
Uh, I got a bit of junk in my trunk at the moment, I need to get
focused on training again...

TIKI HAIR FLOWERS

Yep! Been busy again.
During the weekend I made hair flowers with a little Tiki
man in the middle, so cute!

Available in my Etsy shop.

MORE NEWS!

Yes, there's more new items in my shop...
If you like the look of this, why not visit my Etsy shop.

Earrings are available here and the hair flower available here.

And to my Scandinavian readers I would like to say:
GLAD MIDSOMMAR!

NEW LISTINGS!

Today I've listed 12 new hair flowers and 2 vintage
bags in my Etsy shop.
I've also made the decision not to sell on Tradera
anymore because no one bothers to read the fine
print, that I only accept PayPal and these people
end up costing me a lot of money.
The fee is insane and I'm not a happy bunny!!!

QUICK REVAMP

I got this dress at the same time as I got my very
yellow playsuit that I blogged about last week.
This dress is also from Primark and cost £5.
It's all well and good but those awful gold buttons
just had to go! Pronto!

Click on the images for a better view.

Here's the dress in full before the revamp.

Closer view.

Close up on those awful buttons.

And here's after the revamp.
I added big wooden buttons I got from my local
haberdasher for 20 pence each.
I think the buttons add a bit more character to the
dress and they go well with the Hawaiian look.

Close up.

WAIT FOR THE PARTY

This stunning 1960's lurex dress arrived with the
snail mail on Saturday just gone (yes, we do get
mail even on Saturday over here) and it's my latest
eBay find and I do mean find, I paid £13!!!
It's a bit too big for me and as I alter it I might even
turn it into a wiggle dress because the shape isn't
very flattering on me since I'm short.
Can't wait for the right party to wear it!

Click on the image for a larger view.

And I got the right heels and handbag to go with it...

These darlings cost me £1 at a car boot sales and they
look like they were made for this dress.

And this 1950's clutch bag was one of the first things I got
when I started going to car boot sales four years ago.
This one cost me £3.

And here's what it looks like on the inside.

£17 ($27/€19/175 Kr) for an entire vintage (or at least
mostly vintage) evening outfit isn't too bad.
I'm leaving the bling behind because the outfit doesn't
need more sparkle.
But if I would my first choise would be the Coro set I
got for Valentines
.

GRRR...

Here's a top I made back in 2009 but I've noticed that I
never blogged about it. I used to be pretty good to show
off my work back then. :))
Here's an old blog post about two tops like this one that
I made from a pattern from 1944.

The top is actually for sale here!

NEW ITEMS FOR SALE!

Yesterday I decided to shoot some decent pictures
of my handmade fascinator hats, since I have a nice
Jayne Mansfield wig to put them in.
They all turned out quite well and since Etsy is even
easier and more fun to use nowadays I listed as many
as 21 fascinator hats in my shop today!
Feel free to have a browse. Thanks.

LATEST BLING

Got this vintage pineapple (no surprise) bracelet with the
snail mail this morning.
It's my latest eBay find and it cost me £2. Not bad, huh?

And I wanna say welcome to the 7 new blogs I added
to my favorite blog list:

By gum, by golly!
Call me Lucille
Cotton candy truant
I heart everything
My High Heeled Darling

REST IN PEACE ROB

Got very bad news, again, this time about the tragic
death of Rob from the Swedish rockabilly band The
Go Getters.
My man is crying, totally devastated, they played
together on stage just a few days ago.
We decided that we needed to get out of the house
and do something, to get a bit of distraction from all
the sadness.
So we went to Fleetville Vintage Emporium, as you
might remember is our favorite vintage spot.
As soon as we stepped in one of the lovely members
of the staff asked us if our house is filled with all the
right stuff and that we were looking lovely. Wow! :D
Today I only got one thing, but it's a very good thing,
something that's gonna be so incredible useful for me,
a vintage rotating display stand.
This is perfect both for jewelry and fascinator hats.
Since my man was waaaay too hungover to buy me
something in Germany he offered to pay for the stand,
fine by me, he got it for the neat sum of £7.50.
I love visiting Fleetville because there's hundreds of
lovely vintage treasures I would buy if my wallet was
fatter and the house was bigger.
It's not at all expensive (no London pisstake prices)
so don't get me wrong, I'm just saving up for our trip
to Sweden later this summer.

Since it's summer and romance is in the air FVE decided
to have a vintage wedding fair!
The wedding fair is taking place at The Fleetville Vintage
Emporium, 221A Hatfield Rd, St. Albans on Saturday 2nd
July between 12-4 PM. Free entry!
Sounds interesting? For more info, click here!

FIESTA

Vamos a tener una fiesta!

This is my latest eBay purchase and this time I splurged,
£16, it's not often I spend that much on a piece of vintage
so for me it is a splurge. :P
The seller described it as 1950's, I wasn't sure at first and
I didn't really care, I just adore the print, now when I got it
I do believe it's from the 1950's because how it's made, the
feel of the fabric the zipper and so on...
It did come with more flaws than described, naughty!
Time to find a button, mend several holes and buy a Dylon
fabric pen to mask a few stains.
I'm not happy to spend £16 on an item with this amount of
flaws but I love the pattern and it's a head turner so I'll keep
it and try my best to spruce it up.

I KNOW A CURE...

I was in a bit of a pissy mood after the message I
received this morning.
Luckily I know a cure for that, bargain hunting.
I had a whole lot of packages to send today and my
favorite local charity shop is close to the post office
so I went in for a scout.
Not much today but I love what I found...

Bangles, 25 pence each.

1960's hat, £1.

And here's me being silly...
(Click on the images if you want a larger view.)

Oh yes, I almost forgot, the playsuit I'm wearing is
actually my first "brand new item" purchase of the
year. It's from Primark and cost me £5.

NOT COOL!

Got a message this morning from a good friend of mine.
She's telling me that another rockin' shop has stolen my
idea and actual creation, an idea I took a bit of pride in -
my bamboo earrings.
I wouldn't mind if it was my hair flowers that were the
thing they've copied, so many rockin' gals making hair
flowers and there's hard to keep up on who made what,
but when it comes to jewelry I do mind because I must
say I'm VERY careful not to copy what my friends and
fellow rockin' crafters have created.
Some of my fiends have had their creations copied, well,
I really should say ripped off, by others and they've been
heartbroken about it and now I know how they feel.
Not cool!

For the record, I made mine in July last year.
And I'm talking about the rockin' scene over here, not
world wide.

QUITE BUSY

I've been quite busy today even though I had another
terrible night with almost no sleep and when I fell asleep
I had awful nightmares.
So far I've made a whole lot of new hair flowers and I
listed 13 items in my Etsy shop.
I can't begin to tell you how much I'm looking forward
to tonight, to finally have my man back in my arms after
4 days of solitude.
He's been away to the Waldorf Rockabilly Weekender
in Germany.
I thought it would be nice with some peace and quiet
but I've been climbing the walls and felt very uninspired
and miserable, the bad weather hasn't made it easier.
Now I'm gonna clean the house and make the bedroom
nice with scented candles and fresh sheets.
10 PM it's cuddle time! :D

Hair flowers and snood available in my Etsy shop.

NOW AVAILABLE

My OTT cherry necklace is now up for grabs!
Inspired by the celluloid/bakelite chain necklaces
from the 1940s.

I was wearing mine at the Screamin' Festival in
Spain and the compliments were never ending.

Available here!

COULD HAVE BEEN DEADSTOCK

Hello!
I'm back home from the Screamin' Festival in Spain.
I got really ill and lost my voice and I'm still not fully
recovered so I'm spending the entire weekend in bed,
watching movies and dosing up on vitamin c.
I had a blast tho, made new friends from all over the
world and I won a beauty competition, believe it or not.
I will post pictures shortly. I treated myself to a new
camera just before we left so I hope the quality will be
much better than the previous one.

Here's what I can show you, shoe bargains.
I picked these up in an old shoe shop, the crummy old
owner cleared his very old stock (yes, vintage) of kids
shoes for a song and lucky for me I got small feet and
here's what I snagged before everyone else managed
to get their filthy paws on them.

€3. (£2.65/$4.30/27 Kr)
These are really comfortable and goes with everything.

€2. (£1.75/$2.85/18 Kr)
Got these a little bit cheaper, like they weren't cheap enough before,
because of a tiny bit of color difference.

€3. (£2.65/$4.30/27 Kr)
My favorites. Absolutely perfect for jiving!

€3. (£2.65/$4.30/27 Kr)
Real deal Catalan espadrilles.

Salvador Dalí used to wear the same kind of espadrilles back in the day.
