REVAMPED!

I just finished revamping a dress into a skirt.
I found this summery girls dress (it's for a 6 year old)
at the car boot sale last Sunday for 20 pence and I knew
right away that I could revamp it into a skirt since I'm
quite petite.
It took me about 1 hour and I'm relatively pleased with
the result.
This skirt will look perfect with the red gingham top I'm
working on at the moment.

Talking about sewing, I got my dressmaking certificate
yesterday. I thought about attending another course in
the fall but it's not worth it since I don't get much help
and guidance from the teacher so my plan is to put an ad
out in the paper or on the net that I would like private
tutoring once a week from a retired lady who have all the
time in the world and who wouldn't mind some cash for
the trouble.

Sorry about the awfully dull pictures, there's more cute
details, like frills, than my crappy camera will tell...

We have crazy Swedes over at the moment.
Today we're going for a picnic in Benington.

Did a silly amount of finds on Sunday, this is
just a few things, my favorite finds.

Swedish and American currency, it's more fun
that way...

BLAH!

Went to the hospital today.
Got the result from the MRI scan and it was normal.
The doctor didn't think I have Labyrinthitis, as they've
been telling me for 6 months now, but he said that he think
that I might have Vertebrobasilar Migraine.
He's not 100% sure so he will refer me to a neurologist.
I'm fed up with all this crap to be honest.

Got tons of cool finds on the car boot sale yesterday, I will
post pictures tomorrow if I'm up for it and have time.

YES, I'M A HUGE FAN

Am I a very bad person because I think this clip is
awfully hilarious?

IT'S PRACTICALLY SUMMER!

It's 26 degrees Celsius here!
We're sitting on the patio, sunbathing and sipping on drinks.
I even took my first proper ride on my new bicycle earlier.

FEELING GREAT!

So this is post number 300 already!
Feeling great today, had a good morning so far, with my
condition I'm happy for everything I can accomplish.
I managed a 40 minute power walk around the lake with
both hand weights and ankle weights and then I had a
very yummy fruit salad containing apple, banana, peach
and lots of fresh raspberries that I enjoyed in the sun.
I'm having a break to let the food digest a bit before I
do my daily leg presses.

Here's two songs that keeps me going!

MY WEEKEND

SATURDAY
Went to a car boot sale and a jumble sale!
Managed to find some cool stuff, I won't post all of it
though, too many pictures.
My favorite find must be the polka dot bathing suit,
I'm gonna use it as a top, perfect with a little sailor hat.
And I found a hideous vintage dress that has the exact
fabric that I've been looking for!
I'm gonna turn the dress into 1950's style pirate pants,
like the curvy blond chick in Grease 2 wearing while
bowling, check out the "Score Tonight" song.
Like always, everything is vintage and this time I also
convert the prices into Swedish and American currency.

Bathing suit, 50 pence. (6 kr, $0,75)

Scarf, 10 pence. (1,30 kr, $0,15)

Handbag, 10 pence. (1,30 kr, $0,15)

SUNDAY
A night out at Dingwalls!
Our friends, The Hormonauts, put on a really great
show, as always.
My man picked up the guys at the airport and then
drove them to Dingwalls in Camden and since there
was no room in the car for me my lovely man came
back home to get me.
It was great to see friends that I don't get to see that
often, lots of catching up to do.

I also met a Bull Terrier on the way to the gig, what
a cuddly pig! I could have scratched and kissed him
all day.

IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS

I've noticed that it's the little things in life that really
makes my world go round.
Like...
* Our compost is now fully working.
* I found a bag of Swedish wholegrain Krisprolls
for only 89 pence today.

* I made the prettiest hair flowers yesterday that I
hope will be a success.
* I found one of my cousins and some old friends
from my hometown on Facebook.
* My man is finally getting rid of stuff he don't want
or need.
* We probably gonna become foster parents to older
English Bull Terriers this fall.
* Our stay at Hemsby (May) is finally sorted!
We were a bit late to book a chalet this year so we're
gonna share chalet with Vivien of Holloway's brother.

Chalets at Hemsby.

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!

THIS IS YUMMY!

My man got me Cauldron organic marinated tofu
yesterday and I must say I'm not a fan of tofu but
this particular one was actually very yummy!
The marinade contained grated ginger, pressed
garlic, brown cane sugar and soy sauce.
If you can't get Cauldron, why not try making it
yourself?
Check out their website for recipes!

SMALL UPDATE

I'm back!
I've been feeling a bit off lately and ignored the computer,
our graphic card is buggered so everything is purple and
the text is double, very annoying.

So what have I been up to?
Well, there was Passover, which was nice as always, I was
a bit annoyed that we still haven't got ourselves a proper
Seder plate (my man don't think it's necessary) and two
new Haggadah.

Our vegetarian Seder.

My man reading the Haggadah.

We went to the antique market on Fiday where I found
some vintage jewelry and some vintage buttons.

Jewelry lot, £1.50

Buttons, £1.

On Sunday we went to our friends wedding.
A big Mazel Tov to them!

Claire & Paul.

Their wedding cakes.

What else?
My dad called last night and told me some bad news that
he and my stepmother won't come over this summer as he
promised and I'm a bit pissed off to be honest.

PASSOVER

Tonight it's the Seder night.
Passover (also known as Pesach) is a Jewish holy day
and festival commemorating G*d sparing the Hebrews
when he killed the first born of Egypt, and is the seven
day feast of the unleavened bread (made without yeast,
we eat Matzo instead) commemorating the Exodus from
Egypt and the liberation of the Israelites from slavery.

I've done the ritual cleaning in the kitchen, no risen bread
or breadcrumbs are allowed during Passover.
Before sundown I need to set the table and prepare the
Seder plate (ours is vegetarian) and the feast for tonight.
I love the Seder night, my mans favorite part is the many
glasses of wine, I drink grape juice instead.

Matzo.

Chag sameach!

CLICK

I was supposed to list new hair flowers on Etsy but
I realized that I didn't have any pictures of what the
flowers looks like when they are put in a hair style.
I was very pleased with my hairdo tonight and my
man loved it and said I look like a 1940's pinup.
I just finished and I'm pretty satisfied.

Took some time to be silly too!

NEW FINDS

I'm tired today, stayed up to 4 AM to watch the annual
Wrestlemania with my man. I know, how nerdy is that?

Went to a car boot sale yesterday.
Manage to find some cool stuff for almost nothing.
This is what I got:

Flamenco dolls, 50 pence/each.

Old jewelry box, 50 pence.

Jewelry lot, 85 pence.

Saturday 4 April 2009

NICE DAY

I knew this morning as I made coffee and fruit salad
that it would be a nice day.
It's been sunny and warm and we took advantage of
every minute of the day.
First we went to a car boot sale in Potters Bar, it was
an indoor car boot sale and so terrible crowded that I
didn't feel like browsing for very long.
I did find a very cool bag and a vintage apron.
Then we went home to eat and then we headed out for
a stroll in Benington Village.

Bag, £1.50

This is Mervin, he's making sure that the village is safe.

I had a Hitchcock moment.

Nice facade.

How cute can it be?

Pretty flowers.

A yellow cottage.

This is Moses, he might not be the prettiest duck but he
sure has a lot of charm.

This is Bruno, he's a nice horse.

This is Sweetheart, she's a really big lady who likes to
scratch her butt against the wooden gate.

FOUR POUNDS WORTH OF KITSCH

My man got me these extremely kitschy sunglasses today.
They are dark pink with glitter flakes.
£4 at ASDA.

Thursday 2 April 2009

CUTE COASTERS!

Look what I got by snail-mail today!
A fellow crafter on Craftster contacted me about a
pair of earrings I made and told me that she was crazy
about them and asked if I wanted to swap them against
something she made, I though, sure, why not?!
I told her what I fancy, like cherries and pinups and so
on and I had no clue whatsoever what she's gonna make.
So these cute drink coasters made out of felt arrived today
and I totally love them!

Thank you Teresa!

If you fancy these as well I recommend you to contact
her on Craftster and work something out, her alias is
Gamemom42.

BUSY BEE

Yesterday was a very busy day for me.
First I did the washing up and cleaned the work surfaces,
did a load of wash, then went to my GP to get some more
medication for my Labyrinthitis, then I went home to eat
breakfast, vacuum the house, hang the laundry out to dry
and then Paula picked me up to have a girlie day out with
her and Liz, coffee, gossip and shopping.
Then I came home, had dinner and then off to do the MRI
scan and then I went to evening class.

Here's what I got during our shopping spree yesterday:

Kitchen set, £4

Tea towel, £2.80

Cardigan, £15

Umbrella, £5

VERY SCI-FI

I just came back from the MRI scan at the hospital.
It felt a bit like being in a Stanley Kubrick movie
or something. Very Sci-fi. *smirk*
I had a scan because of my Labyrinthitis, I will get
the result in about two weeks.
